Who is behind Pen to Paper and From The Pen's Nib?

Hi!

You’re reading at least on of my newsletters, so you may want to know a little about me.

I’m a retired educator. For 41 years, I taught elementary-level and preschool students with special needs. For the last five years of my career, I worked as a coordinator of special education at an elementary school. Working with children holds a special place in my heart. I still fill that need by volunteering in two schools every week. Children have so much to teach us about life.

Two years before retirement, on a whim, I decided to write online, sharing my stories and thoughts. Starting on the platform Medium, I was led to take an online writing class with a challenge to write and publish a daily essay on Twitter for 30 days. I met the challenge and never stopped writing.

I started writing simple statements of daily gratitude in June 2021. Writing gratitude changed my life. I write a lot about gratitude and the positive changes we can make for ourselves and others.

In August 2022, I added free journaling to my daily gratitude, and I haven’t looked back. I credit my daily writing to many of the positive changes in me. Hence the title of my newsletter, Pen to Paper.

In January 2024, I started my second newsletter, From The Pen’s Nib. I felt the need to share more about journaling. After discovering a few short newsletters on the subject, I decided it was time to start one.

My two newsletters are very different from each other. I suggest you take a peek at both to decide what is right for you.

In addition to this newsletter, you can find me on Twitter, where my handle is @SGSAbel. I write and publish short essays most weekdays.

I believe today’s technology and social media can be a positive influence. I welcome comments and questions. Let’s start a conversation!

Thanks for checking out and subscribing to my newsletter,

💚

Susan
