Are you interested in developing a journaling habit but don't know where to begin?
My journaling habit was difficult to start. For 20 years, I had an on-and-off relationship with journaling. Now I've consistently journaled for five years.
My daily journaling grew in small steps. Yours can too.
There are easy ways to get started on your journey. First, you need a journal. Any will do. You'll be more likely to use one you like.
If you're not up to writing gratitude or emotions (yet), don't. Date your entry (that's part of keeping a journal) and try one of these:
Food and drink intake. (Be honest.)
The best thing about each day. (Even if it's your coffee.)
A question. (One you answered or didn't answer.)
Doodle something from your day. (The weather would be easy.)
List two things that made you stop and smile. (My dog would be listed often.)
You might combine some of these. Repetition from day to day doesn't matter. This is for your eyes only. You are creating a journaling habit.
My successful journaling streak began with food and water intake for health reasons. In five years, my habit has grown to include gratitude and daily thoughts.
What will your small step be?
7 Thoughts on Gratitude and Good. One for each day of the week.
📃Listicles are articles written in the form of a list. It turns out people love reading listicles. Here’s a great article explaining why.
I’m grateful for my journaling habit. ✍
I’m grateful I can put aside the desire for perfection to try new endeavors, like this newsletter.
Blogger Matt Hogan sends out a daily one-minute read I enjoy. This one hit home coming just two days after what would be my father’s 92nd birthday.
I’m grateful for rainy days. They immediately make me slow down.🌧
We all have relationships that need to be nurtured. Who can you reach out to today?
I love emojis, ❤ so I thought I’d throw a few in. Don’t worry. I’ll try to show good judgment in my future usage. ⚖
Thank you for reading!
Be intentional doing some good today.
Thanks for sharing, Susan 😉
Great way to show how listicles work.
Article, pending to read.
Loved Matt's read, it reminds me of being told we, male health care workers may be especially wrong-wired, always wanting to fix (in an algorhithmic way), thus, leading to not listening and being present... 🤔 😍
Thanks. There are some great ideas here.
I like the idea of starting small and just drawing a picture of the weather from the day. That is something I can commit to.
